Verge Product Updates

Welcome to the Product feed at The Verge! This is where our product team will share what we’re working on. We’ll post updates on new features and release notes as things roll out, put out calls for participants in user research and ask for your feedback along the way.

As a quick note, this is a bit of an experiment for us. We’re using it as a space to figure out the best ways to share our work and hear from you. That means we’ll be iterating and adjusting as we go, but we’re excited to start here.

Note: For issues with your subscription, to report a bug or any other technical issue, please contact us here so our technical support team can make sure you get the help you need.

Sent from Slack.

Maybe not the flashiest update for readers, but it’s a big one for us: Verge writers can now publish the quippier stuff directly from Slack (like I’m doing right now!). The result should be more quick hits from your favorite Verge voices.

What we’ve shipped over the last several weeks:

Improvements / Fixes

  • Turns out that vertical text on the web can be an editorial nightmare. We removed the vertical category label hanging out to the left of content cards in your feeds.
  • We also…
    • Smoothed out small interactions and animations to make some components feel more natural
    • Addressed some necessary SEO and structural maintenance to keep things running well
    • Laid early groundwork for better ways to follow your favorite newsletters and other series

Features

And I would be remiss not to mention that we started this Product feed, a place to share updates like these and what we’re working on. Don’t forget to join our research group.

Gift articles have landed.

In case you missed it, we launched gift articles on The Verge earlier this month. Subscribers can share up to five paywalled articles each month with friends, enemies, strangers or anyone in between. With February on the horizon, that means five fresh links to give away. Tell us how it’s working in the comments.
