Tidal is taking on Bandcamp and allowing artists to sell music directly to fans.

People are tired of not owning anything, iPods are popular again, and Tidal is trying to cash in. You don’t need a subscription to buy songs, and the company is only taking a 10 percent cut, but there’s an extra service fee if you use Apple’s in-app payment system.

How’s this for a string of words:

YouTube performance artist-turned-metal singer Poppy is narrating the English version of an audio-only adaptation of a short story from horror manga master Junji Ito. Oh, and it’ll only be available on vinyl. You can check out the Kickstarter campaign here, and stay tuned for more on this project from me very soon.

Bitwig Studio 6 officially launches with major automation and interface improvements.

Bitwig teased its latest version back in August, and it’s finally here. There are tons of new editing features, like automation clips, which make it easy to create repeating patterns for any parameter. You can also lock projects to a key signature to ensure you never hit a wrong note.

Live Nation and state plaintiffs will give an update on their settlement talks Friday.

The judge just scheduled a 3 PM hearing ordering “principal decisionmakers” for the states and Live Nation to attend. I expect we’ll hear about the status of their settlement talks, and whether at least some portion of the 27 states plus DC pushing ahead will go back to trial Monday.

A gambler on illegal vs legal gambling.

In this personal review of Everybody Loses, Jonny Auping recalls his time with a bookie: “thank God it was illegal bookies who got their hooks in me first. If it was the NFL and NBA peddling this stuff straight into my veins before I had any experience with my compulsions, I really can’t say how far it would have gone.”

A class action lawsuit is targeting Valve’s loot boxes.

It follows a similar suit filed two weeks ago by New York. Both allege that the loot boxes in games like Counter-Strike 2 are essentially gambling, and the class action accuses Valve of “deceptive, casino-style psychological tactics.”

Microsoft teases some sort of Xbox dev kit reveal at GDC.

These images posted to X by the official Microsoft Game Dev account actually appear to show existing dev kits for older console models like the Xbox One and Series X — but given they’re tagged as a “sneak peek” for GDC 2026, the Project Helix hardware may be revealed soon.

Ben McKenzie has a new crypto documentary.

Apparently he wasn’t satisfied with just the book. Sort of a shame McKenzie couldn’t release it on April 1, don’t you agree?

It’s Mario Day’s eve.

So here’s a lengthy trailer for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which includes a dramatic rendition of Mario saying “mama mia” and a surprising amount of action. More importantly is the news that Yoshi will be voiced by Donald Glover. The movie hits theaters on April 1st.
