Butterball’s first handheld is no fun at all.

It may look like a frozen turkey-shaped Game Boy, but the Butterball Buddy is played more like a game of hot potato. You pass it around and when it stops making noise the person holding it is randomly assigned a Thanksgiving Day task like helping the chef or washing dishes. You can win one through Butterball’s website, and the rest of the year it functions as a kitchen timer.

With better performance and a better screen, this is a Mini to be reckoned with. But it’s not perfect, and it sure isn’t cheap.

The Busy Bar can now run custom apps.

The latest firmware for the desktop productivity tool adds a JavaScript runtime so developers can create their own apps like live data widgets, games, and smart alerts that run right on the device. At the end of November, the company also plans to launch a “Busy Apps Catalog” featuring a curated collection of community-built apps available for download.
