In a “rare, positive update” amid the ongoing component shortage, Framework is lowering its RAM prices for some buyers of the Laptop 13 Pro — at least, for now. After increasing the laptop’s memory pricing in July, Framework says it “secured a limited quantity of Micron 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules at lower cost,” and plans to share the savings:

We are committed to passing on savings whenever we can and keeping computers as accessible as possible in the current environment, so we are rolling out price reductions across both already shipped and a subset of currently pending pre-orders. While these new costs remain above our original pre-order launch baseline, they are lower than the last cost update that drove our current pricing for new pre-orders.
Framework says it’s sending out refunds for the price difference for preorders that shipped with the higher RAM price. It’s also adjusting the price for pending preorders “through Batch 10 that have memory configured at the higher pricing,” and giving customers in those batches the option to upgrade their RAM configuration at the lower price.
If any of the lower-cost RAM is left after that, or Framework is able to get more, it will be offered to customers in the remaining Laptop 13 Pro preorder batches next, and finally to new preorders. (According to the 13 Pro configuration page, Framework is currently taking orders for Batch 20.) There’s also a form where customers with the laptop’s DIY Edition can request to switch their RAM configuration at the new price.
