I tried out the GoPro Max 2 camera to compare it directly with the Insta360 X5 and the original GoPro Max 1. The differences in image quality and color sciences didn’t immediately jump out to me like they sometimes do. When the differences feel subtle, I feel like the best way to decide between cameras is to try renting one for a day or two and see which workflow works best for you.

Dbrand released a new Touch Grass collection of skins for over 100 different devices for April Fools’ day and I tried them out. It’s not really a prank because these are a limited-edition skins that you can actually buy. The skins feel a bit like putting a softer type of Astroturf on your tech. This is a goofy bit of sensory overload, and to me, it counts as going outside.
We took a tour of the home of two sound designers and professional multihyphenates, Jessie Char and Max Neely-Cohen. I was most excited about their closet. The couple shared an obsession over the one from the movie Clueless and came up with solutions to create the same outfit-picking experience as Cher Horowitz.

I tried out the new productivity app Touch Grass, which just came out for iOS. It blocks apps of your choosing and only unblocks them after you take a picture of your hand literally touching grass. I even tried tricking it with fake grass with mixed results. You can block two apps in the free version of Touch Grass and an unlimited number of apps in the subscription version, which costs $5.99/month or $49.99/year.
I tried out the Feno toothbrush: a full-mouth, U-shaped toothbrush. It brushes your entire mouth in 20 seconds as opposed to the typical 2-minute brush time recommended for standard toothbrushes. The Feno toothbrush seemingly did a pretty thorough job of brushing my teeth and was quick and comfortable.
However, I can’t get over its $299.00 price tag and Feno’s optional monthly subscription that grants access to features like AI that tracks your dental health or the ability to message oral health coaches about your brushing.
Nvidia Broadcast is a free app that just rolled out an update with a few AI features. I tried out the features “Studio Voice,” “Eye Contact,” “Noise Removal,” and “Virtual Key Light” to see just how much they improve my webcam quality. My GPU didn’t have too much trouble, but Nvidia still doesn’t recommend gaming while using these.
Yukai Engineering announced Mirumi, a fuzzy robotic companion that can latch onto things and moves its head to look around. That’s about it, but that’s pretty much the point.
A series of bot-filled communities on Facebook keep popping up to praise AI-generated images of Jesus Christ. The Dead Internet Theory explains why the internet might feel lonely even when there are many voices crying out “Amen 🙏.”
