A game where your choices matter. No really. We mean it this time.

Exodus was one of the world premieres at this year’s Game Awards. Central to Exodus is the concept of time dilation — aka the water planet scene in Interstellar (which is oddly appropriate considering Matthew McConaughey is in this game.) Exodus is an RPG where player choice really matters since you’ll be able to see the long-reaching ramifications of those choices because of timey-wimey physics.

And since it’s being made by Archetype Entertainment, a new studio headed up by a bunch of people responsible for your favorite narrative RPGs like Mass Effect and The Last of Us, I actually believe they mean it this time.

Metaphor: ReFantazio looks sick.

It was announced in June, but Atlus shared a new trailer at The Game Awards. There seems to be a lot of Persona DNA in the game, but with even more over-the-top anime bombast.

It’s coming to Xbox Series X and PC in fall 2024.

Dave the Diver is getting a crossover with Dredge.

The free update adding the new content launches on December 15th. Dave the Diver is currently on Nintendo Switch and Steam, and it rocks, you should absolutely play it.

I want those furries obliterated.

Windblown is the newest game from Dead Cells developers Motion Twin. In it, you play as a Leaper who must defend the Ark from an entity called the Vortex.

A lot of your allies will die, judging from the gory trailer filled with lots of cute anthropomorphic creatures meeting bloody ends. Fear not, for their deaths will not be in vein as you’ll be able to absorb their memories and skills to fight on.

You can wishlist Windblown on Steam now and it’s coming to early access in 2024.

Inject this one straight into my ears.

The composer of the intense music game Thumper is now making Thrasher, which like a similarly jaw-dropping musical experience. The game’s Steam listing describes it as “a mind-melting cosmic racer and an essential audiovisual experience,” and I can’t wait to try it out when it launches in 2024.

It’s coming to Quest and SteamVR first, but it will come to flatscreen platforms “sometime after,” according to a press email.

I can’t tell what’s going on, but I want to play it.

A cute (gaming) musical.

One of the early reveals at the awards was Harmonium, an interactive music that looks super charming and is coming to both Game Pass and Netflix.

The case of the Golden Idol is getting a sequel.

The Rise of the Golden Idol is launching in 2024 on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and as part of Netflix’s mobile offerings. Rise will have 15 cases, according to the game’s Steam listing.

The new Golden Idol keeps up the series’ phenomenal art, though instead of a pixel-focused style, this new game looks like a painting come to life. Already one of my most anticipated games of 2024.

The creator of Inscryption’s next game is a sequel to Pony Island.

Daniel Mullins’ next game is called Pony Island 2: Panda Circus and it looks extremely weird... and awesome. Just watch the trailer.

I haven’t played Pony Island, but I loved Inscryption, an fantastic card game / horror experience that was one of the best titles of 2021, so I’m definitely looking forward to Panda Circus. It’s set to release in 2025.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is getting a remake.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake will be out on February 28th, 2024, and it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC (via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.com). The original was fantastic, so I’m glad this game is getting a remake for modern systems.

The Game Awards is about to start, but The Game Awards’ website is down.

Fortunately, the show is streaming on other platforms, so it’s not the end of the world. Hopefully the website gets fixed before the event starts at 7:30PM ET.
