Apple has launched its annual Back to School promotion, offering discounts and awarding App Store credit for products bought by people in education. Like last year, students buying a new Mac will receive a $100 App Store gift card which can also be used for other iTunes Store content, while iPad buyers will take home $50 credit. This year, Apple will also include the iPhone, giving customers $50 App Store credit for smartphone purchases — confirming an earlier report by 9to5mac.

To qualify for the bonus, buyers need to be a college student, a student accepted to a college, or a parent buying for a college student (teachers are also included). Apple’s campaign runs right across the summer, allowing students and parents to get their purchases in before the new school year starts.
